Can I take an assistance dog or guide dog with me?
Persons with disabilities are entitled to travel with an assistance dog or guide dog. These dogs can always be transported in the cabin free of charge and are automatically assigned a seat in the front of the aircraft. In case of long-distance flights, the seat can be located in the first Plus row (seats providing extra legroom).
Please observe the following instructions when travelling with an assistance dog or guide dog:
- the dog must always wear a standard identification harness from a recognised organisation or association.
- the dog must not be transported in a pet carrier and may not occupy a separate seat.
- in case of flights of 8 hours or more, written confirmation may be required stating that the dog is able to control its bladder movements on the flight, in such a way that there will be no health or sanitation issues to other passengers on board.
- it is advisable to always carry the dog's certificate issued by a recognised organisation with you during the flight.
- you must present two copies of the form Appendix F23 Live Animal Acceptance Checklist filled in and signed at the check-in counter.
