Info about wheelchairs with LITHIUM batteries
LITHIUM e.g. lLi-ion, Lithium(-ion), Lithium-Polymer
Conditions:
- Specify Wh value (max 300 Wh), or Voltage (V) + Amp-hour (Ah).
- Attachment: battery must be securely attached and poles must be protected against short circuits. For embedded batteries, disconnection is often not necessary unless the terminals are exposed; in that case, insulation should be applied.
- Insulate circuits: electrical circuits should be insulated to prevent accidental activation. This can be done with a key, disconnecting cables or a special plug.
- Spare batteries: a maximum of one spare battery of 300 Wh or two of 160 Wh each, must be transported in the cabin and protected against short circuits.
- Removable batteries: for wheelchairs where the battery can be removed, the following conditions apply. Batteries are removed and must be transported as hand luggage. Poles must be protected against short circuits.
